Privacy Policy Introduction

At WePet, we value your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our mobile application and website.

Children's Privacy & Minimum Age

WePet is intended for users aged 16 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal data from individuals under 16 years of age. If we discover that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a user under 16, we will delete such information promptly. Parents or guardians who believe a child under 16 has provided us with personal data should contact us immediately at mohammedahmadyounes@gmail.com.

Information We Collect

• Account Information: Authentication details provided via Google OAuth (and Apple Sign-In in future updates), such as display name, email address, and profile avatar URL.
• Optional Details: Phone number, city, or manually entered textual address provided when publishing adoption posts or lost/found reports.
• Pet & Public Profile Data: Information and images regarding your pets, as well as medical and contact details associated with physical QR medallions.

Data Hosting & International Transfer

Your data is stored and processed using third-party cloud infrastructure providers (such as Supabase and its underlying hosting partners), which may store data on servers located outside the State of Libya. By using WePet, you consent to this cross-border storage and processing of your data, which is protected through industry-standard security measures including encryption and access controls.

Device Permissions (Camera & Photo Library)

WePet requests access to your device's Camera and Photo Library strictly for capturing and selecting profile pictures, pet images, adoption listings, and lost/found reports. We do not access, scan, or background-upload any photos from your device library without your explicit action.

Location & City Usage

WePet DOES NOT collect or track live GPS device coordinates. Location details (such as city or district) are entered manually by users as plain text. City information is used to show localized lost/found reports, nearby adoption notices, and city-relevant or national (all Libya) local advertisements.

Physical QR Tag Public Exposure

Information attached to a physical QR medallion (such as pet medical status or owner contact number) is made publicly viewable via web browser only to facilitate returning lost pets when the code is scanned. You maintain full control over which details you choose to publish or hide.

Data Retention Period

We retain your account and profile data for as long as your account remains active. When you request account deletion, we will permanently delete your personal data, posts, and images within 30 days, except where retention is required to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.

Account & Data Deletion Rights

In compliance with store standards (Google & Apple), you have full right to request complete deletion of your account and associated data. You can delete your account directly and immediately through the app settings (Profile > Account > Delete Account), or request account deletion by emailing mohammedahmadyounes@gmail.com. All your posts, photos, and personal records will be permanently removed as described in our data retention policy above.

Your Data Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or export your personal data at any time through your profile settings. You may also request a copy of your data or ask us to correct inaccurate information by contacting us at mohammedahmadyounes@gmail.com.

Third-Party Services & Local Ads

WePet features local store and service advertisements curated without cross-site tracking or third-party ad networks (like AdMob). Your data is never sold to marketing agencies or third parties.

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. We will revise the 'lastUpdated' date at the top of this policy. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we protect your data.
